A restaurant long familiar to northern Palm Beach County families is poised to take over the now-empty breakfast-and-lunch spot at Carlin Park in Jupiter.

The Dune Dog Cafe will open its fourth location at the site long occupied by Duke’s Lazy Loggerhead Cafe under a plan which Palm Beach County commissioners will consider Tuesday.

Lazy Loggerhead closed in August 2022 after 25 years of serving waffles, pancakes, burgers and BLTs to beachgoers at the Jupiter park. It was a favorite of those who lived between the Jupiter Inlet and the Juno Beach Pier.

Freeport Equity bought a pair of Montessori schools in Jupiter for a combined $12.9 million. 

The Boston-based firm bought two Turtle River Montessori schools, at 740 West Indiantown Road and 926 Maplewood Drive, in separate deals from Rohit and Bharati Dandiya, according to records and real estate database Vizzda. Freeport took out an $8.4 million cross-collateralized loan from Amerant Bank. 

Completed in 1997, the school on Indiantown Road consists of a one-story, 11,000-square-foot building on 1.2 acres, Vizzda records show. It offers programs for children from 18 months to kindergarten. Freeport paid $4.3 million for the property.

Texas Roadhouse purchased a 3 acre commercial parcel in Lake Park for $2,400,000. A resolution was passed in July, permitting the development of the Texas Roadhouse on the southeast corner of N. A Chicago-based retail real estate investor made its first foray into South Florida with the acquisition of a Palm Beach County shopping center.

An affiliate of Bucksbaum Properties paid $27.1 million for Plaza La Mer at 849 Donald Ross Road in Juno Beach, according to records and Vizzda. The deal breaks down to $225 per square foot for the 120,152-square-foot retail plaza.

The seller, an entity managed by Inanc Kirgiz in Delray Beach, paid $3.6 million for the property in 1993, records show. Sitting on 10.2 acres, Plaza La Mer consists of five single-story buildings completed in 1988. The shopping center’s 32-tenant roster includes Dunkin’ Donuts, Tire Kingdom, Loggerhead Fitness and Trust Co. Bank.

An affiliate of New York-based Related Cos., led by billionaire and Miami Dolphins owner Stephen M. Ross, paid $194.57 million for a waterfront condo development site in downtown West Palm Beach.

Flagler Towers Project Dev LLC, a partnership between Palm Beach-based luxury developer Frisbie Group and Houston-based real estate giant Hines, sold the 3.4-acre site at 1355 S. Flagler Drive to SFH Owner LLC, an affiliate of the Related Cos. The deal included $159.57 million of seller financing.
